A pillow form is also called a pillow insert and many different sizes, shapes and types of inserts are available today. Bolster pillow form is one of these pillow form shapes. If you're going for angular square or rectangle pillows you want them to be in the 16 - 26 inch range, no bigger but in a few cases they may be smaller. These pillows generally need to be large enough to full showcase a few passes of a given patter or even a large block of solid color. Rectangular pillows are really nice because the oblong shape is usually unexpected and adds a bit of extra flair. In most cases you will not be opting for a circular pillow, and unless you are an experienced designer or just know that you've got the stuff you should be cautious when approaching your sofa with spherical cushions. Round pillows tend to not blend well with the overall angels of your furniture, unless of course you a have very unique piece such as a cylinder bed or circular patterns in your rooms decor.
There are retail outlets that supply readymade sofa pillows. Buyers can go to these outlets and select from the wide range available with them. Sometimes interior decorators suggest designs that blend with the ambience of the room. Sofa pillows can also be matched with curtains or drapes of the room.
Before you buy your fabric, you‘ll need to determine how much you need. Add 1 - 1/2 inches to the pillow size you decided on so that you‘ll have room for sewing the pieces together. For example, if you are making an 18 inch by 18 inch pillow, you should buy enough fabric to have two squares that are at least 19 inches by 19 inches. Explain your project and measurements to the salesperson at the fabric store and they will be able to cut you the amount of fabric you need.
Decorative pillows, sometimes called throw pillows, can add the finishing touches to a room makeover or breathe a new life into any room in your house. There are many styles and sizes of decorative pillows available on the market today. As with any home accent, decorative pillows have their own dos and don’ts.
