Throw cushions in the Aubusson style are named after an area in France that has been famous since the Renaissance period for its weavers and the woolen products they produced. Pillows made in the same tradition of highly intricate detailing using top quality yarns are still called Aubusson pillows today. Aubusson pillows are generally used in more formal settings due to their floral, regal, and antique French historical designs.
The decorative pillows are like jewels in your house. Your decoration will highlight the sharp accents and colors. The textures of the distinct elements make your whole place very inviting and comfortable. The textured pillows with earth colors can enhance the looks of your sofa. Using beads and satin give excitement to your traditional pieces. You are giving your visitors what it is like to be hospitable by giving them the welcoming beauty of your home decorations.
You‘ll also need to buy something to ˝stuff˝ your new pillows. You can either use batting, which is loose stuffing, or a pre-made pillow form insert. Batting is cheaper and can be divided up for multiple projects, but pillow forms hold their shape better. You might want to look at any throw pillows you currently own and see which type of stuffing they use to make your decision. If you decide to use a pillow form, make sure to buy one that is a few inches larger than the size pillow you'll be making. This will ensure that your pillow ends up fluffy and not flat.
