Throw cushions in the Aubusson style are named after an area in France that has been famous since the Renaissance period for its weavers and the woolen products they produced. Pillows made in the same tradition of highly intricate detailing using top quality yarns are still called Aubusson pillows today. Aubusson pillows are generally used in more formal settings due to their floral, regal, and antique French historical designs.
Lay out your fabric on a flat surface. Using a ruler or measuring tape, draw two squares that are the size you ultimately want PLUS an extra 1 - 1/2 inches. Carefully cut them out with your scissors and lay them on top of each other with the outsides facing in. (You are going to sew your pillow inside-out and then reverse it to hide the stitching.) Pin the two pieces of fabric together by inserting a pin about every 2-3 inches.
Couch pillows that are hand made can be stitched with unique designs. It is possible to use beads and sequins to decorate couch pillows. Beautifully embroidered pillows can blend with almost any background. Intricate designs may take longer for completion. There are cushion makers who make pillows as per the requirement of the buyer. Colors and designs can be chosen from samples available with the makers. Alternatively, buyers can suggest a traditional design that would blend with the ambience of the room.
